Recently, a seminar on the National Science and Technology Major Project for Comprehensive Environmental Governance in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, entitled "Multi-Media Integrated Pollution Control and Waste Resource Utilization Technology and Engineering Demonstration in the Leather Industry," was held in Xinji City, known as the "Leather Capital of China." Experts and scholars from universities and related fields gathered to conduct in-depth discussions on the green and circular development path of the leather industry and jointly plan a new blueprint for high-quality industrial development. Relevant leaders from the Xinji Municipal Party Committee and Government attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
In their speeches, the Xinji leaders stated that this national major science and technology project precisely focuses on the core issues of multi-media pollution control and waste resource utilization in the leather industry, closely aligning with the national strategic guidance of coordinated development and ecological environment governance in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and highly matching the development needs of Xinji's leather industry in pursuing green, high-end, and circular transformation. The implementation of this project provides a crucial opportunity for Xinji City to further build a green manufacturing system and create a "zero-waste industrial park." The Xinji Municipal Party Committee and Government will fully support and cooperate with the project team to ensure the solid progress and effective implementation of the demonstration project in the local area. Meanwhile, it is hoped that this seminar will serve as a link to deepen industry-university-research cooperation with university research teams and participating units, accelerate the local transformation and industrial application of scientific and technological achievements, and inject new momentum into the green and low-carbon development of the local leather industry.
At the meeting, the project leader introduced the background and core significance of the national major science and technology project. It was explained that Xinji City, as the project's technology hub and engineering demonstration area, provides valuable practical scenarios and strong guarantees for the project's implementation. The project team looks forward to reaching a consensus and working together with Xinji to ensure the smooth progress of the project and achieve fruitful results, contributing to improving the environmental quality of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and promoting the green development of the industry.
During the seminar, participating experts, scholars, project team members, and relevant local officials conducted a comprehensive discussion and systematic deployment on key aspects such as the overall project plan, implementation steps, task division, and assessment indicators, further clarifying the key tasks for each stage.
It was learned at the meeting that the "Multi-media Integrated Pollution Control and Waste Resource Utilization Technology and Engineering Demonstration in the Leather Industry" project is an important component of the national major science and technology project for comprehensive environmental governance in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. This project focuses on key aspects of leather production, aiming to develop and integrate a comprehensive pollution control and high-value waste utilization technology system covering source reduction, process control, and end-of-pipe resource recovery. Through technological innovation and engineering demonstration, the project will achieve efficient emission reduction of pollutants such as salt and chromium, promote water resource recycling, solid waste resource utilization, and precise odor control. The implementation of this project will provide strong technological support for the continuous improvement of environmental quality in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, especially the core area, and will also provide replicable "Xinji experience" for the green transformation of the national leather industry.
As an important leather industry cluster in northern my country, Xinji City has consistently prioritized green innovation in recent years. Through measures such as introducing clean production technologies, promoting chromium-free tanning processes, and establishing waste resource utilization platforms, it has accumulated rich experience in industrial environmental upgrading. The implementation of this major national project will further strengthen Xinji's leading position in green technology research and demonstration in the leather industry, helping the "Leather Capital" achieve a transformative upgrade towards high-quality development.
