The 2025 China International Designers Summit and Annual Meeting of the China Leather Association's Designers Working Committee, hosted by the China Leather Association and organized by its Designers Working Committee, was held in Shanghai from September 3rd to 4th, 2025. Themed "New Fashion Landscape, Intelligently Drawing the Future," the event aimed to explore new design languages and paradigms under the wave of intelligent technology and promote the transformation of China's leather industry from "mass manufacturing" to "value creation."
In their opening remarks, leaders from relevant industry associations emphasized that design innovation and cultural added value are at the core of industrial transformation. They commended the achievements of the Designers Working Committee since its establishment in optimizing the designer ecosystem, conducting trend research and empowering individuals, and strengthening trade and business matching platforms. They also mentioned the efforts to foster a virtuous ecosystem for talent development and value creation through initiatives such as designer recommendation events, monthly e-newsletters, online exhibition platform columns, and fashion exhibition zones. They also called on the industry to explore design responses to technological revolutions, industrial practices of sustainable aesthetics, and a collaborative ecosystem of borderless integration. The meeting was chaired by the Association's Secretary-General, and certificates were presented to 18 newly appointed committee members.
Subsequently, domestic and international industry experts and scholars delivered presentations on a variety of topics, including "Sustainable Elegance: Aesthetic Creation in Symbiosis with Nature," focusing on the integration of sustainable concepts and fashion design, advocating "conscious consumption"; "The New Core of the Leather Industry: The Fusion of Art and Technology," analyzing industry inventory and production capacity issues, sustainable demand, and technological empowerment, emphasizing the importance of "integration of art and technology" and local culture; "Apparel Product Trend Research," interpreting the influence of design and the value of multidisciplinary innovation, using data to compare and analyze popular colors; and "Analysis of International Color Trends 2026-2027," exploring consumer culture and the needs of young people, providing references for future design color schemes.
The closing roundtable forum, themed "Breaking Out of the Cocoon, Intelligent Creation: Protecting and Breaking Through Original Design in the AI Era," focused on the irreplaceable role of designers' aesthetic creativity in intelligent data applications, the reconstruction of design talent competency models, and the shifts in thinking, system and talent support, and ecosystem building required for breakthroughs in original design.
The "Modern China Fashion Night," held on September 3rd, was part of a series of events that showcased a fashion show featuring both Eastern and Western styles, and announced the 2025 Outstanding Designers and Top Ten Designers for China's Leather Industry. This event fostered industry consensus, promoted collaboration, and injected a "design-driven" force into the high-quality development of China's leather industry, marking a new journey for China's leather and fashion industry toward a "Smart Future."
