Eighteen Years of Collaborative Craftsmanship! Tsinghua Fur Workshop Opens: Copenhagen Fur Explores Innovative Expressions of Natural Fur

2025 11/03

As the chill deepened in Beijing at the end of October, the Copenhagen Fur Laboratory at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, was warm and inviting. The 2025 International Fur Trends Craftsmanship and Design Workshop commenced as scheduled. The Copenhagen Fur team, along with senior designers and craftsmen, provided Tsinghua Academy of Arts & Design students with insights into cutting-edge global fur trends, innovative techniques, and practical guidance.

The workshop offered a rich and diverse program, covering core modules such as interpretation of the "2025/2026AW International Fur Design Trends Report," sharing of innovative natural fur techniques, tool usage, and hands-on demonstrations. This allowed students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the diverse presentations and innovative possibilities of natural fur.

During the event, representatives from Copenhagen Fur systematically introduced the brand's development history and industry influence, highlighting the significant strategic decision to relocate the brand's operations center to Poznan, Poland. This decision marks a new stage in the brand's development. While upholding the essence of Denmark's century-old fur craftsmanship, it further integrates European resources to drive fashion innovation and future development in the global fur industry in a more efficient and sustainable manner, allowing students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the brand's philosophy and core strengths.

Regarding the new season's fashion trends, core members of the Copenhagen Fur creative team provided an in-depth interpretation of the trend report, considering the current fashion world's pursuit of quality and a natural lifestyle. The team pointed out that the 2025/2026 Autumn/Winter fur fashion will present diverse style directions, creating a distinct stylistic tension through material collisions and element mixing, while also encompassing youthful designs emphasizing comfort and relaxation, conveying a warm style with smooth textures and flowing silhouettes. In addition, the team showcased the brand's latest KFD V5 fur craftsmanship developed by the brand's creative R&D center, detailing its breakthroughs in enhancing fur's plasticity and optimizing design expression, providing students with new creative ideas.

The practical training session seamlessly integrated theory and practice. Senior craftsmen from the brand demonstrated the core processes of fur production, from precise nailing techniques to hands-on machine processing, providing detailed demonstrations and patient guidance at every step. Students actively participated, deepening their understanding of the characteristics of fur materials and the logic of the production process through firsthand experience. The session was highly interactive and filled with enthusiasm for learning. Participating students expressed that the course progressed step-by-step from brand philosophy and fashion trends to practical skills, broadening their design horizons and equipping them with practical skills. They looked forward to integrating what they learned into their future creations.

The collaboration between Copenhagen Fur and the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, began in 2007 and has lasted for eighteen years. Over these eighteen years, through close collaboration, the two institutions have helped students systematically master knowledge of natural fur materials and processing techniques, enhancing their fur garment design and application abilities. This collaborative platform has successfully cultivated a large number of outstanding designers with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. These students have won numerous professional awards both domestically and internationally, accumulating widespread recognition and authority in the fields of fur and fashion design.

The workshop once again demonstrates the firm commitment and deep collaboration of both parties in the fields of fur talent cultivation and fashion industry innovation. It will continue to inspire more emerging designers to explore the diverse possibilities of natural fur expression and inject fresh vitality into the industry.
