On September 27, 2025, the 2025 Jiangsu Intangible Cultural Heritage Fur Art Week and Nanjing Lukou International Fur Expo, themed "Craftsmanship, Love, and Symbiosis," opened in Nanjing Lukou.
The opening ceremony featured a strategic cooperation signing ceremony, a school-enterprise cooperation signing ceremony, a commendation ceremony for outstanding young entrepreneurs, and the unveiling ceremony of the Global Fur Sustainability Committee. The expo also featured the first symposium on sustainable development in the fur industry and the development of fur industry standards, as well as a Jiangsu Intangible Cultural Heritage Fur Art Show. The symposium highlighted the green and sustainable nature of the fur industry. Upstream farming allows for efficient utilization of agricultural byproducts, while fur products are biodegradable, possess excellent physical properties, and are heritable. Furthermore, fur animal farming provides samples for scientific research and contributes to wildlife and ecological conservation. Recommendations for the future of the industry were also offered: upgrading technology and welfare standards on the farming side; improving technological and green processing on the dyeing and finishing side; and strengthening consumer guidance on the processing side, promoting "slow fashion" and responsible consumption.
It is understood that Nanjing Lukou Fur City consists of a phase I property and 156 mu of commercial and residential development land. The phase I commercial building area is 140,000 square meters, with 1,292 shops and 38 business villas planned. It integrates fur production design, exhibitions, wholesale, customized retail and leisure shopping tourism. The goal is to create a landmark that integrates commerce and cultural tourism, build a fur brand museum, production experience workshops and other projects, and lead the fur culture trend.
